Facility Description: Santa Barbara Endoscopy CenterOutpatient GI proceduresThis is a per diem position. 8 hour shift, time and day of week varies. The Gastroenterology (GI) Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge, provides for the health educational needs of patients and families, demonstrates professional/clinical competency, and practices within the Code of Ethics for nurses and the Standards of Nursing Practice. The GI Registered Nurse is a procedural nurse who provides moderate sedation, monitoring, admission, recovery, and discharge of patients receiving GI procedures in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the facility. Key Responsibilities:Plans and delivers safe, effective nursing care at the facility from admission to dischargeCarries out physician ordersAssesses the physical and psychological health status of patientsAssists with GI proceduresStrong interpersonal skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, family, physicians, and the health care teamGood organization, time management and communication skills to facilitate patient care.Strong ability in assessment, analytical decision making, and critical thinking.Familiarity with PCA?s and computer systems.Experience with electronic medical records preferred.BLS Certification.ACLS certification within one month of hire.Strong IV skills.
